Lighting Designer Lap Chi Chu

Recent works include world premieres of Lynn Nottage’s Mlima’s Tale (Public Theater, NY) and Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves (The Playwrights Realm, Lincoln Center Theatre, NY). He has designed regionally for Mark Taper Forum, Geffen Playhouse, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Berkeley Rep, American Contemporary Theater, Goodman Theatre, American Repertory Theater, Arena Stage, Dallas Theater Center and Portland Center Stage. His New York design credits include New York Theatre Workshop, Signature Theatre, Second Stage Theater, Performance Space 122 and Kitchen Theatre Company. His awards include the 2018 Obie for Sustained Excellence in Lighting Design, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Angstrom Award for Career Achievement in Lighting Design, an Ovation Award, multiple Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards and a “Drammy” for best lighting, as well as a Lucille Lortel Award nomination.
