Geffen Playhouse Saturday Scene Explores Cultures Through Tree Mythology

LOS ANGELES, February 6, 2012 Ė In partnership with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, the Geffen Playhouse ignites the curiosity of youngsters and their families alike with Tall Tales: Myths of Magical Trees, a celebration and rediscovery of timeless tales from around the world, as a part of the Geffenís Saturday Scene programming. Climb out on a limb with this production to explore different cultures through their tree mythology. Written and directed by Perry Daniel and curated by Professor Patricia Harter, the show features clowning acts, puppetry and the magic of shadow theater.
Tall Tales: Myths of Magical Trees is recommended for children ages 5 to 11 and will be brought to life on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse. The performance will be followed by complimentary snacks donated by returning sponsors Gelsonís Market and Pretzel Crisps and a chance to meet the cast. Ticket prices are $10 for children and $15 for adults or can be purchased as part of a subscription (which packages three or more shows and begins at $30).
