GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE PROUDLY PRESENTS BRAVOÕS AWARD-WINNING PROGRAM

INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO

JAY LENO AND CLINT EASTWOOD TAKE THE GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE STAGE WITH JAMES LIPTON

AUGUST 13 & 15, 2003

LOS ANGELES – August 12, 2003 – Gilbert Cates, Geffen PlayhouseÕs Producing Director, proudly presents BravoÕs Inside the Actors Studio, featuring interviews with The Tonight ShowÕs Jay Leno and legendary film star Clint Eastwood. These events, hosted by James Lipton, Dean of the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University, will mark only the second time Bravo has taken its eight-time Emmy Award-nominated series on the road. Bravo will film Inside the Actors Studio featuring Jay Leno on Wednesday, August 13, and Clint Eastwood on Friday, August 15. Both shows will be taped from 7–11 p.m.

ÒIt has always been Geffen Playhouse tradition to open up our theater and share eclectic and meaningful artistic events with our community,Ó said Cates. ÒFurthering this, we are delighted to have been chosen by this evocative and insightful program, and we are honored to mark a milestone as the Geffen Playhouse hosts the first Los Angeles taping of Inside the Actors Studio

These special episodes of Inside the Actors Studio will be taped before an audience of Actors Studio West members, drama program students and alumni.  Nominated again this year for an Emmy-award, Inside the Actors Studio, with more than 130 shows to its credit, launched in April, 1994 with Academy Award-winning actor and longtime Actors Studio President, Paul Newman.  For the past nine years, the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University has opened its doors for a series of public seminars featuring major actors and directors who discuss their craft and share the secrets of their artistic achievements.

Since its inception in 1995, Geffen Playhouse has opened its doors to the Los Angeles community, providing a venue for a variety of entertaining and educational engagements.  With an overall focus on enriching the Los Angeles theater experience, Geffen Playhouse has hosted Shakespeare LA, theater readings with luminaries such as Sam Shepard and David Rambo, Saturday Scene performances for children, and film screenings. Geffen Playhouse has also been used a gathering place to memorialize entertainment visionaries, such as the moving ceremony honoring cinematographer Conrad L. Hall earlier this year.
