UPDATED APRIL 23, 2021—Thanks to California's plummeting positivity rates and an aggressive nationwide vaccine rollout campaign, we're looking forward to welcoming audiences back to enjoy live, in-person Geffen Playhouse performances. We’ll be announcing the new lineup for our 25th Anniversary Season before the summer, so stay tuned and get ready for some live theater, at play!

UPDATED JULY 16, 2020—We’ve been working hard behind-the-scenes to make preparations for our upcoming 25th Anniversary Season. While our intention was to have announced a fully reimagined schedule by now, it’s become clear productions on our Gil Cates Theater and Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater stages will not resume before Spring 2021.

Although our physical theater stages will be dark a little while longer, we’re continuing to develop new productions under our Geffen Stayhouse banner to launch alongside The Present, with more details to follow soon.

The health, safety and well-being of our patrons, artists, employees and all Geffen visitors remain our top priorities, and we plan to unveil the full lineup of the next season as soon as possible. We look forward to welcoming audiences back in 2021, once we can all gather and celebrate the wonder, camaraderie and spirit of live theater.

UPDATED APRIL 15, 2020—Due to these unprecedented, evolving times and ongoing social distancing guidelines in Los Angeles, we have postponed the remaining productions in our 2019/2020 season, including The Enigmatist and Macbeth. We are exploring opportunities to reschedule these productions alongside the previously announced Geffen Playhouse 25th anniversary season lineup in 2020/2021. If you are a subscriber or current ticketholder, our box office will be in touch with you to make the necessary arrangements to accommodate this change of schedule as soon as it is finalized. We thank you for your patience, as response times may be delayed.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Geffen Playhouse when we’re once again able to open our doors to the public. And when that time comes, we’ll be ready with newly implemented and enhanced measures to provide a safe, comfortable and healthy environment for all our Geffen patrons and visitors. Your well-being is our first priority.

In the meantime, we invite you to visit Geffen Stayhouse every Wednesday for original content from Geffen alums and some of our favorite theater friends.

Be safe. Be healthy. Stay home.

UPDATED MARCH 16, 2020—In response to the evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19, our organization is taking immediate, proactive steps to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our patrons, staff and all Geffen Playhouse visitors. Out of an abundance of caution, following the postponement of Man of God, we have now cancelled the full run of the production. In addition, we will not be moving forward with our future production of Bernhardt/Hamlet, which was scheduled to begin previews Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Our annual Backstage at the Geffen fundraiser, originally scheduled for April 20, 2020, has also been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. We will continue to monitor the situation closely in the event we need to make additional changes.
