Position Summary

This full-time position serves as both the Assistant Box Office Manager and House Seats Manager; 20 per week as Assistant Box Office Manager and 20 hours per week managing house seats and performing other administrative duties. Under the supervision of the Director of Ticketing and Box Office Managers, this position, at times, will manage and supervise the daily operation of the box office. During these times, is responsible for all cash received, verifying cash reports, maintaining and distributing accurate sales reports and deposits. This position will train and supervise part-time box office staff. Candidates should be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving problems and ticketing issues to the satisfaction of customers. Additionally, will sell tickets/subscriptions via phone, mail, and in person; and should input payments and patron information quickly and accurately. As a manager, will process, print and distribute tickets including third party ticket outlets such as Goldstar, TodayTix, telemarketing, etc. before and during show times. The assistant Box Office Manager acts as customer service liaison for theater patrons and distributes information relating to box office functions. Applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates will be friendly, articulate, approachable and attuned to patron needs. Candidate should be responsible, self-motivated and able to work in crowds and high-stress situations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages daily box office operations by supervising box office workers, assisting with ticketing and customer service duties, preparing daily cash deposit, reconciling daily sales, updating and troubleshooting the computerized ticketing system including hold management.
  • Helps to assure patrons receive amazing customer service by training and monitoring the staff and by using independent judgment in solving problems quickly and to the satisfaction of our patrons.
  • Inputs mail/email/fax ticket orders, subscription and donation payments including managing and processing third party outlets, group sales and house seats.
  • Processes inbound phone calls, reservations and payments as well as direct interaction with customers.
  • Completes orders and sends out tickets and/or confirmations to patrons.
  • Communicates politely and knowledgeably with the public on all box office policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes getting along with customers, co-workers and management.
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Performs various administrative and box office duties assigned by the Director of Ticketing and/or Box Office Managers.
  • Processes House Seat requests.
  • Processes Staff Comp requests.

Desired Qualifications

  • High School education or GED.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • At least two years’ experience in a high traffic customer service position that required regular interaction with the public and responsibility for cash management.
  • Box office and live theatre experience is preferred.
  • Experience with a ticketing system (ideally AudienceView) is preferred.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to learn and recall box office policies.
  • Detail oriented. Problem solving skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent customer service and communication skills.

IATSE Local 857 Union Requirement
