UPDATED MARCH 16, 2020—In response to the evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19, our organization is taking immediate, proactive steps to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our patrons, staff and all Geffen Playhouse visitors. Out of an abundance of caution, following the postponement of Man of God, we have now cancelled the full run of the production. In addition, we will not be moving forward with our future production of Bernhardt/Hamlet, which was scheduled to begin previews Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Our annual Backstage at the Geffen fundraiser, originally scheduled for April 20, 2020, has also been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. We will continue to monitor the situation closely in the event we need to make additional changes.
Backstage at the Geffen is our signature annual fundraiser, where we honor key entertainment industry figures who have made their indelible philanthropic mark on the community. This year’s event will be hosted by Rory O’Malley (Book of Mormon, Hamilton) who will introduce guests to exclusive behind-the-scenes stories from some of the most prominent celebrities in Hollywood, as well as surprise, unannounced performances that you just can’t see anywhere else.
All funds raised support the Geffen’s ongoing commitment to bring the power and inspiration of the arts to youth and adults in communities across the patchwork of Los Angeles.
