Accessibility

Geffen Playhouse is committed to providing access to all patrons for season productions. In the Gil Cates Theater, available accessible seats and companion locations are listed for sale at each price level for each performance. If you are unable to locate a seat that meets your needs based on the information on the seating chart, please call Audience Services at 310.208.2028 to speak with a representative who may be able to further assist with your purchase. Seating varies in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse and it is also recommended that you contact Audience Services should seating in your desired section not be available online for this venue.

FOR PATRONS WHO ARE DEAF OR HAVE HEARING LOSS

ASSISTIVE LISTENING DEVICES —

Assistive listening devices (ALDs) amplify sound. Radio Frequency assistive listening systems are installed in all theaters and headsets may be used at any seat. Headsets with neck induction loops are available for patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a "T" switch. Ask your audiologist whether your hearing aid or cochlear implant has a "T" switch and how to use it with an assistive listening headset. Headsets are distributed free-of-charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

OPEN CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES —

Open captioning is a service for people who are deaf or hard hearing. An LED sign will display the text of the live production in sync with the performance. Partial support for open captioning provided by Theatre Development Fund.

ASL INTERPRETED PERFORMANCES —

An ASL interpreter will be present in the house left portion of the Gil Cates Theater orchestra (closest to seats B 1, 3, 5 and 7) during the performances listed below. In the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater, the ASL interpreter location will vary by production, please contact Audience Services for more details.

To access specifically held seats and unlock tickets for open captioned or ASL interpreted performances, use promo code ACCESS2324. Call 310.208.2028 should you require additional information.

FOR PATRONS WHO ARE BLIND OR HAVE LOW VISION

AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES —

At the audio-described performance listed below, patrons who are blind or low-vision may listen to an audio describer give live, verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery, and other visual elements of the production. Patrons who wish to listen to the audio description can pick up a listening device from the concierge desk in the lobby.

Large Print Programs can be picked up upon request at the Concierge Desk.

FOR PATRONS WITH SMOKE SENSITIVITIES

SMOKE-FREE PERFORMANCES —

For select productions that contain the smoking of herbal cigarettes, we may offer a smoke-free performance for patrons with smoke sensitivities.

MASKS REQUIRED PERFORMANCES

MASKS REQUIRED FOR SELECT PERFORMANCES —

Masks will remain required inside the Gil Cates Theater auditorium for all remaining performances of The Inheritance through November 27.

Masks are no longer required—but are encouraged—for audiences in our theaters and lobby/courtyard areas for all future productions. Select performances of Mindplay, The First Deep Breath, and The Lonely Few have been designated as “Masks Required” to accommodate patrons who feel more comfortable attending with an audience that is fully masked.

For performances where masks are required, only these types of masks may be worn: medical/surgical masks, N95, KN95, or KF94. Unacceptable masks include: cloth, neck gaiters, bandanas, and masks with vents. Medical/surgical masks will be provided to patrons if needed. Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose.

NOTE: This policy is subject to change at any time, in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Please check back for our current policy before your scheduled performance date. View Current Policy
