Welcome to the Geffen Playhouse! Our friendly box office staff can assist with purchases, subscriber exchanges, accessibility requests, and any general inquiries you may have about our shows and your theater experience. We look forward to helping you.
Geffen Playhouse is committed to a safe, nonviolent, and mutually respectful environment for all.
Our expectation is that interactions between patrons and employees/artists align with the Geffen’s core values. Consequently, disparaging comments and biased or threatening behavior are not acceptable conduct and will not be tolerated. We are committed to equipping our staff with skills to handle difficult situations with professionalism and respect. In turn we will address anyone whose behavior towards our employees constitutes bias, intimidation, bullying, or harassment. While our desire is to resolve conflicts and preserve relationships whenever possible, Geffen Playhouse will take action, including ceasing relationships, with anyone who willfully chooses to disregard these values and principles.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled performance, please call 310.208.2028 at least 48 hours in advance of your showtime.
Geffen Playhouse has implemented a new exchange policy and introduced a Day-Of Exchange Pass for subscribers for the remainder of the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater 2022/2023 Season.
How does the Day-Of Exchange Pass work?
Anyone can donate tickets as a tax-deductible contribution to the Geffen Playhouse. Donations will be accepted up until curtain time by phone or in-person, or up until 3 hours before curtain time online (CLICK HERE), and will be acknowledged by mail for tax purposes.
Call our Audience Services line at 310.208.2028 to exchange or donate tickets.
MASKS ENCOURAGED Masks are no longer required—but are encouraged—for audiences in our theaters and lobby/courtyard areas for all future productions.
Geffen Playhouse does not operate its own parking lot. However, several parking lots are located near the theater. CLICK HERE to find the most convenient parking option for you.
The Geffen Playhouse lobby and courtyards open 1 hour before curtain time and includes a full bar. Doors to the theaters generally open 30 minutes before curtain.
Should you arrive late to the theater or vacate your seat during the performance, please expect to be held in the lobby until an appropriate pause in the action on stage. To minimize disturbance to other patrons, you may be seated in the first available location by the house staff even if different from your assigned seat. Be advised that some productions or circumstances may not allow for late seating. To ensure you enjoy the performance in your assigned seat, please arrive at the theater at least ten minutes before curtain time.
If you lose or misplace your tickets, please contact our Audience Services at 310.208.2028 and you will be issued replacement tickets via email or will call.
Geffen Playhouse can only guarantee the authenticity of tickets purchased via our website, our Box Office phones or windows, or via an approved third-party ticket seller (Goldstar or TodayTix).
Tickets being sold by other third-party resellers and/or ticket brokers may be duplicate, counterfeit, or priced beyond face value; Geffen Playhouse cannot guarantee their authenticity or control their prices or fees. Duplicate or counterfeit tickets will not be honored for admission.
When in doubt, please call Audience Services at 310.208.2028 (Tues–Sun, 12:00pm-6:00pm).
No outside food and beverages are allowed. Food and beverages may be purchased at the Geffen Playhouse bar and consumed in the lobby and courtyard areas. Food is not allowed inside the theater, but beverages with an appropriate lid can be taken into the theaters for certain performances.
The Geffen Playhouse produces and builds its own shows from the ground up. Previews are the first few shows at the beginning of a run (preceeding Opening Night) to allow our artistic teams extra time to hone the stories and acting, iron out technical kinks, and perfect the production. Because of this, tickets are available at a slightly lower price for these performances.
The Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater is an intimate theater with infinite opportunities for configuration. Variable seat locations can change by production offering unique—and often the best—views in the house.
Yes. The Geffen Playhouse provides seating for both wheelchair access and other impairments that require accessible seating in all price ranges. Accessible seating is marked on our online seating charts as a wheelchair symbol (movable seat) and a star (companion seat). Assisted listening devices may be borrowed on a first-come, first-served basis at the concierge desk.
CLICK HERE to learn more about all of our accessibility offerings.
We ask that patrons refrain from wearing some perfumes and cologne. Many people are allergic or sensitive to heavy scents.
The set, lighting, and sound configuration may occasionally require that your assigned seating location be moved to a more appropriate section of the house. This is especially true for the front rows in the Gil Cates Theater and the variable locations in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater. We will notify you of any change in your seating location prior to your arrival at the theater and move you to an equivalent area of the house. Your new seat location is guaranteed to be in the same price section.
The dress code at the Geffen Playhouse is casual. (Think jeans, slacks, button shirts. Not tank tops, shorts and flip-flops.)
All Geffen Playhouse productions are intended for an adult audience; children under 10 years of age will not be admitted, unless otherwise noted on individual show pages. Additional age recommendations/restrictions and content advisories may apply; please check individual show pages for more information.
