The Society, Incorporated was founded in May 1983 by four women who conceived the idea of organizing a group of professional women who shared the goals of friendship and service. The outcome of their efforts was the establishment of The Society as an organization to promote friendship among members and serve as a resource in the arts for young people. Chartered on June 26, 1993, The Los Angeles Chapter’s responsibilities are to serve as role models and mentors for young people who will be the leaders of the future. The Society chapters have focused upon supporting youth who are talented in the arts and to this end, we support a variety of projects in our communities and support collectively and individually local and national initiatives. Our function is to serve as a resource for young people in the arts; and to promote educational, civic and cultural experiences within the community.
