Tony Award nominee Harry Lennix has built a distinguished career defined by gravitas, range, and a commanding presence across stage and screen. He earned a Tony nomination for his portrayal of “Solomon ‘Sonny’ Jasper” in Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Purpose, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play. He made his Broadway debut in August Wilson’s Radio Golf, with Off-Broadway credits including Titus Andronicus, and acclaimed regional performances in A Raisin in the Sun, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Othello, and The Great Gatsby. He received the inaugural Ollie Award for his portrayal of “Malcolm X” in The Meeting at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre and will return there as associate director and musical director of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom in March 2026. Lennix’s film credits include Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Man of Steel, The Matrix franchise, Ray, and The Five Heartbeats. On television, he is best known for his decade-long role as “Harold Cooper” on NBC’s The Blacklist, with additional appearances in Commander in Chief, Billions, and Dollhouse.
