Yuki Izumihara is an award-winning scenic, projection, and production designer born in Shimonoseki City, Japan and based in Oakland, CA. Ms. Izumihara’s work is influenced by years of martial arts training and is animated by a belief in discipline, ethics, and craftsmanship. Recent productions include projection design for The Light in the Piazza and Leopoldstadt (co-production with Shakespeare Theater Company)at The Huntington; Dolores and Bulrusher at West Edge Opera (co-production with Opera Southwest and San Diego Opera); Areas of Relief and Inkwell at ODC; San Francisco Symphony’s Lunar New Year and Gala; production design for New Works Collective at Opera Theater of St. Louis; Madame Butterfly at Opera Philadelphia; The Marriage of Figaro, An American Dream, and Semele for Opera Santa Barbara. Her work has been featured at LA Opera, the New World Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Omaha, San Diego Opera, and various theaters across the country.
