POSITION SUMMARY

The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Company Manager starting immediately ahead of the upcoming 2021-2022 season. The Geffen produces in two theater, the Gil Cates Theater (LORT B) and the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater (LORT D). The Company Manager serves as the principal liaison between artists and theater company, coordinating a full range of artist services in a positive and supportive manner. This position reports jointly to the Producer and Artistic Producer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to:

  • Contract actors for productions, workshops, readings and special events.
  • Coordinate, arrange and manage artist travel, housing and local transportation.
  • Prepare and provide for emergency health services and wellness assistance.
  • Perform regular check-ins with artists throughout rehearsals and performances (requires night and weekend attendance).
  • Manage artist communication and logistics, including communicating schedule/timing, locations, directions, and other logistics in coordination with department heads for auditions, rehearsals, press engagement, media events and performances.
  • Create and maintain a welcome packet for visiting artists.
  • Coordinate artist payments with the accounting department.
  • Prepare and remit union reports per LORT CBA.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on personnel and DEI matters.
  • Assist Marketing Department in acquiring artist assets for programs, social media and other marketing needs.
  • Coordinate/arrange hospitality for rehearsals, workshops and readings.
  • Create and maintain a list of artist support consultants including dialect, voice, and speech coaches, intimacy coordinators, and skills coaches.
  • Contract artist support consultants as production needs warrant.
  • Arrange opening night gifts.

SKILLS & BACKGROUND

  • Fundamental knowledge of standard theatrical production practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in professional non-profit or commercial theater companies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (or other comparable productivity suites).
  • Strong leadership skills coupled with a positive and calming presence.
  • Organizational skills with a can-do attitude.

GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE COVID-19 EMPLOYEE VACCINATION POLICY

To protect employees and their families as well as our contractors, vendors, and patrons from the spread of COVID-19, Geffen Playhouse has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and show proof of an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccination (the vaccine) unless the employee requests and receives an exemption from HR. Employees must schedule and obtain all recommended doses of the vaccine from an authorized health care provider or other third-party administrator, such as a local pharmacy.

Any employee who seeks an exemption from this policy based on a disability or any medical condition that is a contraindication to the vaccine, such as a history of certain allergic reactions; or a sincerely held religious belief, observance or practice that conflicts with being vaccinated, must be willing to explore with the organization the prospects for reasonable accommodation in lieu of such vaccination. The organization will grant accommodation if it is reasonable and does not create an undue hardship or pose a health or safety risk to that employee or to others potentially affected.
