Compensation: $25.00+/hour; eligible for overtime

Position Summary

The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA seeks resume submissions for technicians for its upcoming season and events for all production departments. These departments include:

  • Stage Crew
  • Carpentry and Rigging
  • Automation Operation
  • Scenic Art
  • Properties
  • Wardrobe
  • Hair and Makeup
  • Electrics (including programmers)
  • Sound
  • Video

This posting seeks to collect names to add to our overhire call list, which includes positions for load ins, load outs, and run of show positions as needed. All interested parties are welcome to apply!

This position reports to the Production Manager and respective production department head.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be a part of the load in and load out teams as directed by Geffen Production department heads.
  • Run backstage tracks as directed by Stage Supervisors and Stage Management, including but not limited to moving furniture, props, and costumes.
  • Operate lighting, sound, and/or video consoles for production.
  • Run wardrobe or hair tracks, including quick changes and laundry.
  • Maintain the theater and production throughout the run, including daily cleaning and regular maintenance of all production equipment in use.
  • Attend all technical rehearsals, previews, and performances as scheduled.
  • Liaise with Production Department staff as part of the production process.
  • Reflect a commitment to the Geffen’s Mission and DEI Statement.

Skills & Background

  • Basic knowledge of standard theatrical production practices preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness to adhere to the Geffen’s safety protocols and policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team-player mindset.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs (pending department) and work on your feet.
  • Candidates must reside in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • A willingness to learn!
