Spense Matubang is a lighting and projections designer currently based in Oakland, California. They received their degree in Theater Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2020. Spense first joined The Dragon Cycle team with Marin Theatre’s 2023 production of Dragon Lady and are so happy to be bringing Dragon Mama to the Geffen Playhouse! Recent lighting credits include Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley and Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (TheatreWorks Silicon Valley); Sally & Tom (Marin Theatre); Indecent, The Roommate, FROGGY, and The Great Leap (Center REP); Yellow Face, Thirty-Six, Best Available, and The Triumph of Love (Shotgun Players); The Last of the Love Letters and Edit Annie (Crowded Fire Theater); Fellow Travelers and The Emissary (Opera Parallèle); and Dragon Lady (Center REP, Geffen Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Marin Theatre).
