Brett J. Banakis is a set designer for theater, opera and live performance based in Brooklyn, NY. Brett is thrilled to be returning to the Geffen Playhouse to make his design debut after working here as an assistant designer on many shows in the early 2000s. Previous Geffen work includes: Wishful Drinking, A Picasso, You Can’t Take It With You, Paint Your Wagon, Speed the Plow, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Take Me Out. Brett currently serves as International Scenic Supervisor for all worldwide productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Broadway, West End, Australia). Additional Broadway: The Cher Show (Neil Simon Theater). Recent NYC: Renascence (Transport Group, Abrons Art Center), Ghost Light (LCT3), Big Love (Signature Theatre), and The Enigmatist, a magic/puzzles/cryptology show featuring David Kwong, which will be transferring to the Geffen Playhouse next season. Brett is a faculty member at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
